PURPOSE:To increase an oil holding property and wear resistance by forming the sliding surface of a cylinder inner, etc. with a cermet consisting of a molybdenum alloy and TiC particles. CONSTITUTION:In a member for an internal combustion engine having a sliding surface such as a piston ring, a cylinder liner, etc., the sliding surface is formed with a cermet 1 consisting of a molybdenum alloy having a 95-60 weight part 2 and TiC particles having a 5-40 weight part 3. Thereby, the layer 2 of Mo or Mo alloy which is less harder than a TiC is worn out, disclosing the TiC layer 3 so as to be projected out of a sliding surface to form a number of minute recessed parts 4 on a film surface 1a, thereby, increasing an oil holding property while improving wear resistance. |
