PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having small variance in characteristics and high reliability by providing a gap plate constituted of a glass material to a prescribed thickness between both lamination type cores disposed to face each other so as to linearly form a gap line formed between the lamination type cores facing each other. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic head is constituted by providing the gap plate 5 of the glass material constituted to the prescribed thickness between the lamination type cores 2, 3 facing each other. The gap plate 5 is constituted of an SiO2 material and is inserted between the cores 2, 2 and 3, 3 facing each other. The gap line of the magnetic gap formed between the cores 2, 2 and 3, 3 is made of the hard glass material having good sheet thickness accuracy and is linearly formed by constituting the gap plate 5 so as to sandwich the plate 5 by the cores 2, 3 from both sides. the gap has no variance and is uniform; therefore, the magnetic head having no variance in the characteristics and excellent characteristics is obtd.
