PURPOSE:To attenuate a transient vibration and to attain a quick seek by engaging the 1st gear installed on the rotating spindle of a drive motor with the 2nd gear and permitting an energizing member to energize the 2nd gear to the side of the 1st gear. CONSTITUTION:The 1st gear 39 made of resin such as nylon is secured on the rotating spindle 7 of a stepping motor 5, and the 2nd gear 41 made of resin is engaged with the 1st gear 39. The gear 41 is fitted on the supporting spindle 45 of a rocking arm 43 through a plain bearing 47, and energized to the side of the gear 39 without backrush by the energizing member 51. With this constitution, a transient vibration occurs when the motor 5 drives and stops at the time of a quick seek. However it is absorbed by the sliding motion between the gears 39 and 41 and that of a bearing 47, and attenuation is done. As a result, a settling time is shortened, and a quick seek can be carried out.
