PURPOSE:To increase charge-discharge performance and storage stability by forming a negative electrode with carbon material obtained by carbonizing a compound such as organic polymer compond. CONSTITUTION:Carbon material for negative electrode is obtained by carbonizing at least one compound selected from a group comprising organic polymer compound, condensation polycyclic hydrocarbon compound, and polycyclic heterocyclic compound, and has a pseudographite structure simultaneously satisfying the following conditions. The first condition is that atomic ratio of H/C obtained by elementary analysis is less than 0.15, preferably less than 0.07. The second is that the spacing (d002) of (002) crystal face obtained by X-ray wide angle diffraction is 3.37Angstrom or more, preferably 3.41-3.70Angstrom . The third is that the size of crystallite (Lc) in C crystal orientation obtained by X-ray wide angle diffraction is 150Angstrom or less, preferably 10-70Angstrom . |
