PURPOSE:To easily execute a platen working by supporting stably a test piece, by supporting elastically both end parts of the test piece by a support tool, in case of the platen working for executing the breaking toughness test of the test piece. CONSTITUTION:A lower die 5 is provided on a table 4, and a test piece 1 is placed on said die. Also, on both sides of the lower die 5, a pair of bases 7, 7 are provided, arms 9, 9 are attached so as to be freely turnable to said bases, a supporting rod 11 is provided on its tip, both ends of the test piece 1 are supported, and also in order to hold the arms 9, 9 at a prescribed inclination angle, elastic members 13, 13 are provided on its base parts, by which support tools 6, 6 are constituted. In this state, a part to be compressed of the test piece 1 is placed on the lower die 5, and also, the test piece 1 is supported in both end parts by the rods 11, 11. Also, a load cell 15 and an upper die 16 are descended, and the test piece 1 is inserted and held by the upper and the lower dies 5, 16, by which a platen working is executed. Accordingly, since both end parts of the test piece are supported elastically, the platen working can be efficiently executed.
