PURPOSE:To contrive an enhancement of a speed at which a medium is continuously processed and a reduction in the size of the titled device, by a construction wherein a medium can be switched from a feeding-in passage to a feeding-out passage by a feeding passage switching mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A medium 5 is inserted through an inserting port 6, and is moved forward on a feeding-in passage 14 to the side of a printing head 9. When a leading end part of the medium 5 reaches the position of the head 9, the lower side of a trailing end part of the medium 5 is pushed upward by driving a pushing-up member 3 to move upward. Next, a support member 7 is driven in a closing direction to support the trailing end part of the medium 5. Thereafter, the member 3 is driven in a lowering direction to be returned to its initial position. Under this condition, the medium 5 is fed in the direction of the head 9 by operations such as line feeding. Since the trailing end part of the medium 5 is supported by the member 7 and is directed to the side of a feeding-out passage 15, the next medium 5' inserted through the port 6 can be inserted to such a position that a leading end part thereof comes close to the head 9. The antecedent medium 5 having been printed is passed through the feeding-out passage 15, so that movements of the medium 5' are not hindered in any way, and it is speedily brought to the position beneath the head 9.
