PURPOSE:To read an original only once by storing a picture signal reading the original in a storage means via a coding means and recording the signal after a required number of originals is read and decoded. CONSTITUTION:When the copy request exists, number of copies per original is set by a key switch 5. A picture signal read by a reader 2 is coded by a coding circuit 3 and written in a page memory 4. A coded signal written in the page memory 4 is decoded into a binary-coded picture signal by a decoding circuit 6 and printed on a recorder 10. When the recording for one original is finished and a number of sheet set counter is not zero, until the number of set to be copied is finished, the said operation is repeated. An optional number of sheets is copied by applying one reading to one original in this way.
