Cooling cracked or synthesis gases

The gas is conveyed under pressure through a metal bath to give up its heat. In order to hold the temp. of the metal bath constant, a cooling medium of changeable heat absorption is passed into, or through it. Tin, thallium, bismuth or alloys of these metals or, these alloys with lead and/or silver are used for the metal bath.
