PURPOSE:To prevent an image forming device from being turned over even if large force is applied to the original platen and to reduce the size and weight of an image forming device by providing support legs which can be extended to flank parts of the image forming device body on the sides in the moving direction of the original platen. CONSTITUTION:The moving original platen 2 is provided to the top surface part of a copying machine body 1 and the surface of an original on the original platen 2 is scanned by a readout element 5 in the copying machine body 1. When the copying machine is not in use, a paper feed tray 11 and a paper discharge tray 12 are folded to the sides of the copying machine body 1, which is carried with a paper feed tray grip part 11b and a discharge tray grip part 12b. When copying operation is performed, the paper feed tray 11 and paper discharge tray 12 are rotated around their hinges 9 and 10 and end parts of the grip parts 11b and 12b are fixed in contact with the installation surface of the main body 1. When a sheet P of large size is placed on the installation surface of the trays 11 and 12, their extension trays 16 and 17 are rotated around hinges 13 and 15 to increase the sheet mount area.
