PURPOSE:To make it possible to calculate a sludge amount over a wide range, by providing a freely rising and falling type photoelectric interface position detector weighing sludge in a weighing cylinder and changing the inner diameter and height of the weighing cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A sludge weighing apparatus is constituted of a weighing cylinder 4 for weighing sludge, a detector consisting of a photoelectric switch light emitting part 5 and a photoelectric switch light receiving part 6 for detecting the interface of sludge, a photoelectric switch support stand 7 for raising and lowering the detector and a sludge supply pump 8. Sludge flows in and flows out from the lower part of the weighing cylinder 4. The detector for detecting the interface of sludge consists of the light emitting part 5 and the light receiving part 6 and is supported by the photoelectric switch support stand 7. The photoelectric switch support stand 7 is fixed to a belt 11 and planned so as to be made movable up and down by the rotation of a rising/falling apparatus driving motor 13. By this method, excessive sludge draw-out work excellent in operability can be performed.
