PURPOSE:To prevent the diffusion of a malodor from the surface of filth by forming a blocking layer to the surface of filth, by throwing a substance formed by gelling a deodorant having specific gravity lower than that of filth in the flowable filth received in a tank. CONSTITUTION:Filth 24 is contained in a filth tank 20 and a blocking layer 30 is formed to the surface of the filth 24 by a blocking member 28 having specific gravity lower than that of the filth 24. For example, the blocking member 28 to be used is formed by a method wherein a gelling agent is mixed with a deodorant and carbon dioxide or nitrogen gas is further mixed with said deodorant while the resulting mixture is stirred under high pressure and subsequently reduced in pressure to contain gas bubbles in the mixture in a gel state. Further, the blocking member may be gradually decomposed by bacteria in the filth by preliminarily mixing nutritive components with the gell-like substance. By this method, only the surface of the filth can be deodorized and long-time deodorizing effect is obtained by a reduced amount of the deodorant.
