PURPOSE:To enable a sintered body to be brazed firmly to a holder by coating the surface of the sintered body containing 20 or more volume percentage dia mond with metallic carbon of 1-20mum in thickness composed of one or more kinds of metal selected from element groups of IVa, Va, and VIa, in a periodic table. CONSTITUTION:A sintered diamond composed of 88 volume percentage diamond grains of 1mum in average grading and the remainder, i.e., 5 volume percentage (MoW)C and 7 volume percentage Ni and Co, for example, is finished to 5mm in outer diameter and 4mm in height. And after cleansing the surface by means of sputter etching, a film layer composed of carbonic titanium of 10mum in thickness is formed by use of plasma CVD method on the premise that the sintered diamond is heated in a gas composed of TiCl4, CH4, and H2 at 750 deg.C. Brazing of this diamond to a stainless steel blank 3 by use of silver solder equivalent to Bag-3 in Japan Industrial Standard (JIS) at 740 deg.C realizes firm connection without production of cracks.
