PURPOSE:To control optionally the storing time of a photodiode by draining unnecessary charges from the charges as a signal stored in a photosensitive part out to the external from a memory part with an optional timing preceding to the operation to store said charges in the memory part. CONSTITUTION:A transmission gate pulse 18 is generated by mixing the output of a storing time counter 15 that generates an unnecessary charge transmission gate pulse with an optional timing set beforehand with the input from a terminal 6. Said mixing is executed by switching the set value of the storing time counter 15 wherein horizontal drive (HD) pulses 13 are clocked by means of a storing time changeover switch 16. Accordingly, by supplying an unnecessary-charge transmission gate pulse to the photosensitive part consisting of photodiodes with the optional timing prior to the transmission gate pulse, the unnecessary charges stored there are transmitted to the vertical transmission register of a sequential memory part by means of a vertical transmission pulse.
