PURPOSE:To enhance a uniform mixing property, by passing air through the ion exchange resin bed in a tower from the lower part thereof for a definite time to fluidize and mix an ion exchange resin and uniformly mixing both cation and anion exchange resins. CONSTITUTION:Raw water to be treated is supplied to a mixed bed type ion exchange tower 1 from the top part thereof by a raw water supply piping 13. Pure water subjected to desalting treatment passes through a treated water discharge valve 3 from the treated water discharge port 17 in the vicinity of the bottom of the mixed bed type ion exchange tower 1 to be discharged from a treated water discharge pipe 4. A water drain pipe 6 having a water drain valve 5 is mounted to the bottom part of the mixed bed type ion exchange tower 1 and introduced into a weighing tank 8 equipped with a water level detector 7. Prior to desalting treatment, air is blown from the bottom part 20 of the tower through a ventilation pipe to the ion exchange resin bed immersed in water adjusted to a water level higher than the interface of the stationary ion exchange resin bed. The air blown in the resin bed from an air supply port 16 at the time of air supply treatment is exhausted from a exhaust pipe 15 equipped with an exhaust valve 14.
