PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform control always corresponding to the change in a spark discharge generating state, by rationally setting a falling width and a rising ratio on the basis of the generation frequency of spark discharge and the control angle in a semi-cycle generating spark discharge. CONSTITUTION:When spark discharge is generated during operation, a microcomputer 9 receives the signal from a spark discharge detection circuit 8 to store the control angle of a semi-cycle generating spark discharge and adds 1 to the number of times of spark discharge. When said number of times are sampled (n) times, the microcomputer 9 calculates the average value (u) and standard deviation zeta of the control angle from the sampled data and sets a falling width RV=Kzeta and a rising ratio RS=KzetaN0. Then, the signal based on said values is sent out to a phase control circuit 10 which in turn controls a power controlling means 2. When (n+1)-th spark discharge is generated, the previous control angle is erased and the same operation is repeated.
