PURPOSE:To run other transfer cars without being obstructed by arranging an auxiliary transfer passage near an intermediate cut part of a main transfer passage and, when necessary, by shunting a transfer car, as it is magnetically levitated, into the auxiliary transfer passage and fixing the transfer car there, and then by lowering the transfer car. CONSTITUTION:A magnetically levitated transfer device 1 is arranged near an intermediate cut part 2a of a main transfer passage 2 and is equipped with auxiliary transfer passages 4 and 5. The auxiliary transfer passage 4 consists of a framework 20 of a length capable of supporting one unit of transfer car 10, a guide rail 21, and a fixing piece 23 of the transfer car 10. When shunting the transfer car 10 from the main transfer passage 2 for the purpose of loading, etc., the transfer car 10, as it is magnetically levitated over the auxiliary transfer passage 4 which is on the same level with the main transfer passage 2, is stopped and fixed. The auxiliary transfer passage 4 is then lowered down to the position where other transfer cars 10 can run within the main transfer passage 2. If the auxiliary transfer passage 5 is also lowered down to the level same with that of the main transfer passage 2, the main transfer passage 2 becomes again a continuous transfer passage.
