PURPOSE:To prevent an org. pigment contained in a colorant from thermally decomposing during extrusion coating of electric wire, by the addition of an additive such as asbestos or activated clay to the colorant for coloring a polyolefin used for coating electric wire. CONSTITUTION:The titled colorant is obtd. by kneading and extruding (A) 100pts.wt. org. pigment (e.g., a quinacridone or polyazo pigment), (B) 50- 200pts.wt. resinous dispersion auxiliary (e.g., a low-molecular weight PE), (C) 20-100pts.wt., based on 100pts.wt. total of components A and B, carrier resin consisting of the resin same as a material to be colored and (D) 1-100pts.wt. finely divided additive selected from asbestos, activated (or acid) clay, delomite, Al(OH)3-Mg(OH)2, CaO, Al2O3, etc. followed by peelltizing. A colored, coated electric wire is obtd. by mixing said colorant with a resin such as PE for coating electric wire, followed by extrusion coating the electric wire with the resulting compound. EFFECT:No decomposition product from a pigment deposits on the inner wall of an extrude die even after a prolonged continuous operation, so that a coated wire with excellent appearance is obtd. |
