PURPOSE:To prevent a swelling of ink on a printing plate from adhering to a blanket by providing an intermediate stop point between the upper and lower stop points of a lifting ink doctor blade with respect to an intaglio. CONSTITUTION:A doctor blade 7 is enabled to ascend and descend by a cylinder 5. When a swelling ink on the surface A of an intaglio is levelled off uniformly by means of a blade 7 in an appropriate film thickness all over the surface of the intaglio, an air cylinder 9 is operated to insert an adjusting plate 10 into the lower surface of a nut 11 so that the lower edge of the blade 7 can be brought to a stop slightly above a position contacting the surface A of the intaglio. In addition, when a blanket barrel 1 is moved from a matter to be printed B so as to retrieve the matter on a surface plate 3 after printing, the tip of the doctor blade 7 is lowered to a desired height which does not contact it so that a swelling ink 6 on the intaglio A may not adhere to the circumferential surface of the blanket barrel. Thus the ink can be levelled off to a uniform thickness.
