[Also in Division C2] A pesticidal composition comprises a major amount by weight of an inert carrier and a minor amount by weight of a phosphinyl imide of the general formula: wherein X is O or S, R and R 1 are the same or different and each is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkylthio, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, aryl, or the group R 4 R 5 N where R 4 and R 5 are the same or different and each is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl, and R 2 and R 3 are the same or different and each is H, C 1 -C 4 alkyl or phenyl. The phosphinyl imide has insecticidal, acaricidal, nematocidal and herbicidal properties and the carrier may be an inert organic solvent or an inert solid. The active compound may also be used in the form of a suspension in a non-solvent and a dispersing or surface active agent or anionic or nonionic type may be added to the suspension. |
