PURPOSE:To enable the manufacture of a welded structure having superior resistance to intergranular corrosion without carrying out heat treatment before or after welding by melting the surface layer of an austenitic stainless steel and precipitating delta-ferrite on the surface. CONSTITUTION:The surface layer of an austenitic stainless steel such as SUS304 or SUS316 is melted and delta-ferrite is precipitated on the surface. Though the steel is most easily melted with arc heat, plasma or high frequency heating is also applicable. |
