PURPOSE:To prevent a permanent error which causes an unreadable state, by detecting the causes of readout errors due to the contaminated surfaces of diskettes and the aged changes of magnetic materials at the initial stage. CONSTITUTION:A read-only memory 2, random access memory 3, floppy disk device 4, and keyboard 5 are connected to the bus line of a microprocessor 1 and, when, for example, this system is a data processor for chromatography, an AD converter 6, printer/plotter 7, etc., are additionally connected. When a readout error occurs, readout is repeated at N times or less for the same area until the error is restored and, when errors continuously occur N times, an error display is made and the program is stopped. When the error is restored at M-th and subsequent (M<N), read out data are written on a new area on the diskette before using the data.
