PURPOSE:To enhance the capability of a battery and reduce the production cost thereof, by making a tubular outer packaging material for the battery from a thermally shrinkable plastic film, an ink layer on the inside surface of the film, and an inner electric insulation layer. CONSTITUTION:An ink layer 4 made by adding a pigment to a vehicle such as ethyl cellulose is provided on the inside surface of a thermally-shrinkable tubular plastic film 2 of polyvinyl chloride or the like. An evaporation coating metal layer 5 is provided on the inside surface of the ink layer 4. An inner electric insulation layer 3 is made of an applied resin film of varnish of rosin or the like on the inside surface of the layer 5. A tubular outer packaging material 1 is thus manufactured. The material 1 is cut off to a prescribed length. The body of a battery is inserted into the material 1 cut off to the prescribed length. The material 1 is then heated so that the material is thermally shrunk into tight contact with the body of the battery. Since the thickness of the outer packaging material 1 is made small, the capacity of the battery body can be increased. Since the plastic film 2 of low cost is used as the base of the material 1, the production cost of the battery can be reduced. |
