PURPOSE:To realize a highly safe constant speed traveling, by changing or releasing a set vehicle speed during traveling at a constant speed in accordance with the amount of a rain-fall detected by a rain measuring device during traveling at a constant speed. CONSTITUTION:In a constant speed traveling device, a vehicle speed control means 4 compares a set vehicle speed selected by the driver with an actual vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed detecting means 2, and in accordance with the result of the comparison, controls an actuator 1 for regulating the amount of fuel fed into an engine to maintain the above-mentioned set vehicle speed. In this arrangement, there is provided a rain measuring means 3 for detecting the amount of rain-fall. When a rain-fall is there during traveling at a constant speed, the amount of the rain-fall is detected by the rain measuring means 3, and a set vehicle speed change-over section 5 disposed in the vehicle speed control means 4 changes or releases a set vehicle speed during traveling at a constant speed in accordance with the detected amount of the rain-fall. |
