PURPOSE:To know that a host device is printed to the full and to prevent the drop-out of data by receiving the print data from the host device count the data printed correctly and to inform the number of processed data to the host device. CONSTITUTION:The host device 10 is connected to the control part 21 of a printer 20 via a print data interface l$1 and an end information interface l2. The part 21 stores the print blocks sent from the device 10 into a data buffer 22 and a counter 24 is reset. Then the part 21 extracts a single character out of the buffer 22 and gives the corresponding data to a print mechanism 23 after confirming that the mechanism 23 has no abnormality and the printable signals S2 is active. Then the counter 24 is advanced as long s the print is through in a normal way. This action is repeated and the state of this action is informed to the mechanism 23 and the device 10. Thus the mechanism 23 prints the print data given from the device 10 with no drop-out.
