PURPOSE:To make unnecessary a mode switching operation by switching a mode to a non-accumulation mode automatically when no destination transmission mode information of a designated destination is stored, or when the vacant area of a picture memory becomes few. CONSTITUTION:When a bit of destination information is inputted from an operation display device 9, a CPU1 judges whether the bit of destination transmission mode information of th destination is stored or not at a parameter memory 3. When a judgement is YES, it is decided whether the residual capacity of an image information memory 2 remains over a prescribed value. When the judgement is YES, after a transmission original set at a scanner 11 is accumulated on the memory 2, the bit of destination information is transferred to a communication controller 17, then calling the destination, and an accumulated image is transmitted to the destination. When an inputted bit of destination transmission mode information of the destination is not stored, and when the residual capacity of the memory 2 is few, a process is switched to a non-accumulation transmission process, and a transmission is performed without accumulating the image information on the memory 2.
