MANUFACTURE OF ELECTROLYTIC SOLUTION FOR REDOX BATTERY

PURPOSE:To cheaply and easily manufacture an electrolytic solution for a redox battery, by molding a chromium ore together with a carbonaceous reducing agent to make chromium reduction pellets, dissolving some of the pellets in sulfuric acid and the others in hydrochloric acid, and mixing both the solutions with each other to a prescribed concentration. CONSTITUTION:When an electrolytic solution for a redox battery is to be manufactured, a chromium ore is first molded together with a carbonaceous reducing agent so that the ore is partially reduced. Some of chromium reduction pellets made by the partial reduction are dissolved in sulfuric acid and the others are dissolved in hydrochloric acid so that iron and chromium are extracted. Both the solutions are then mixed with each other to a prescribed concentration so that the electrolytic solution contains the complex ions of a chromium-III chloride. The electrolytic solution can thus be manufactured easily at a low cost.
