PURPOSE:To improve picture quality by making the gradation matrix constitution of each color larger in length or in width. CONSTITUTION:As a sheet of multi-color thermosensitive paper 1, a sheet of laminated thermosensitive paper consisting of the first coloring layer 3 and the first color stripping agent layer 4, the second coloring layer 5 and the second color stripping agent 6, and the third coloring layer 7 on a supporting body is used. In the sheet of the multi-color thermosensitive paper 1, a coloring layer can be selected with the quantity of heat added on, and in a thermosensitive recording, many kinds of color can be expressed with a matrix constitution. As the matrix constitution, for example, the relation between the length and the width in the gradation matrix constitution of each color is set at the proportion of one to three with the length larger, and one picture element is constituted placing each gradation matrix in parallel. Also, a device can be constituted in such a way that the relation of the length and the width in the matrix constitution of each color is set at the proportion of one to three with the width larger. By constituting the device in such a way, each picture element can be constituted with the dots of three by three, and no distortion can be generated on a hard copy.
