It enables a message to be delivered in response to any call, the subscriber choosing one message from several messages. The informer, connected in parallel to a telephone set, includes a line interface 1, a user interface 2, a speech synthesis module 3 and a supply 4. The user interface comprises a keyboard 5, a microprocessor 6, a read-only memory 7 and a work memory 8. A fixed portion of each message is contained in the read-only memory. An inverter 14 having a programming position and a monitoring position makes it possible, in the programming position, to choose a message and supplement it with information delivered with the aid of the keyboard to the work memory; in the monitoring position, the informer delivers the complete message in response to a call. <IMAGE>
