PURPOSE:To lighten the load on a data processing device and to enhance efficiency of the system by making retrieval and control of stored information related to file in a file controlling device. CONSTITUTION:When commands from data processing devices 21, 22 are received by an input-output controlling section 11, a processing controlling section 13 interprets the commands and retrieves the state of use of the file and stored information corresponding to file identification information included in the commands from a file controlling section 12. When the forming command is normal, the processing controlling section 13 allots an area of the file basing on the content of a constitutional information storage section 14, and registers specified stored information in the file controlling section 12. When the command conforms to the constitutional information by identification, stored information obtained from the file controlling section 12 is transferred to data processing devices 21, 22 from which the commands are issued.
