The device has a base plate (1) and a frame (5) which is rotatably mounted on the said plate (1) by means of a turntable (4) and which supports a platform (20). A bearing plate (25), on which the visual display unit (27) stands, is pivotably mounted on the platform (20). The frame (5) has a lifting mechanism (8, 9) for adjustment of the height of the platform (20), while a further lifting mechanism (28) is used to set the inclination of the bearing plate (25). Despite this space-saving design, the bearing plate (25) can be rotated, vertically adjusted and inclined together with the frame (5), so that the position of the visual display unit (27) can be adapted to the operator in an optimum fashion. <IMAGE>
