A method of forming a polymeric image comprises applying to a base material a thermally cross-linkable allylic resin obtained by the polymerization of an addition polymerizable allyl carboxylic ester having a plurality of aliphatic ethylenically unsaturated linkages at least one of which is in an allyl ester group, heat curing the resin layer, and exposing the resin layer to a heat pattern thereby effecting removal of the cured resin in the heated areas while leaving an image of cured resin in the unheated areas. Preferably the base is a metal and the based metal areas obtained by development are desensitized. The resin may be one of those described in Specification 1, 217, 709 ins, and cross-linked aided by a peroxide. The heat pattern may be produced by exposing a dark stencil on the resin layer to infrared, or by using a laser. |
