PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp image enlarged in gradation and having a contrast, by applying heat to a plurality of heat-meltable ink layers different in the contents of a gradation control agent and a resin occupying an ink layer correspondingly to the density of a manuscript. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording method printing an image using a thermal transfer recording medium wherein a heat-meltable ink layer based on a heat-meltable substance solid at ambient temp., a coloring agent, a gradation control agent and a resin forming a reticulated structure is provided on a support, printing density is continuously changed by the use of two or more kinds of heat-meltable ink layers different in the contents of the gradation control agent and the resin. By the reticulated structure consisting of the fine porous structure of the resin and the gradation control agent, the coloring agent in the heat-meltable ink layer is strongly held. Said coloring agent is melted under heating by a thermal head and exuded from the pores of the reticulated structure formed of the resin and the gradation control agent but the exudation amount thereof changes correspondingly to applied heat energy. |
