PURPOSE:To excite suction air positively according to an engine driving state as well as to improve the extent of inertia supercharging efficiency, by installing an exciter to be driven by an engine output shaft, in a suction system, and exciting the suction air in a way of interlocking with an engine speed. CONSTITUTION:A piston 23, which is driven by a crankshaft 24 for the exciter 20 connected to an engine crankshaft 17, is installed in a suction passage 15 of an engine 2. This piston 23 reciprocates synchronously with rotation of the engine, making a suction pipe generate a pressure wave, and performs its inertial supercharging. The exciter 20 is driven as directly connected to the engine crankshaft 17 so that exciting frequency of the exciter 20 goes up automatically according to a rise in the engine speed, thus an optimum inertial effect is securable.
