PURPOSE:To perform good highly detailed recording by relatively simple apparatus constitution without providing a special clogging preventing mechanism, by transferring ink into the solvent applied to an ink body to form a dissolved ink latent image and subsequently transferring said dissolved ink latent image to an image carrier to form a visible image. CONSTITUTION:Pulse voltage is applied to a piezoelectric element 8 at a proper time on the basis of an input signal to emit a solvent to the surface of an ink holding roller 12 from a solvent emitting port 10. Quick drying ink is supplied to the ink holding roller 12 from an ink tank 14 and adhered thereto in a dried state. Therefore, the ink is again dissolved only in the part where the solvent droplet emitted from the solvent emitting port 10 has been adhered and a dissolved ink latent image is formed on the surface of the ink holding roller 12 which in turn transfers the dissolved ink forming the latent image to an image carrier 2. A visible image by the ink corresponding to the dissolved ink latent image is formed to the part of the image holding body 2 passed along the ink holding roller 12 and fixed to the image carrier 2 after the evaporation of the solvent.
