PURPOSE:To improve efficiency of processing by using a group of registers having function common to plural input-output devices, and controlling plural input-output devices. CONSTITUTION:An application program AP declares use of an I/O device to a controlling program CP. The CP receives the information from the AP and obtains an I/O controlling area for an I/O device. When the name of a logical device, hard address information, proper information address, task information etc. are registered in the I/O controlling area. The AP starts the I/O executing section of the CP, and the I/O executing section of the CP starts designated I/O device basing on the registered address, and reports termination of address to the AP.
