PURPOSE:To prevent slip between a rotary shaft and an elastic body, by constructing an elastic roller comprising a cylindrical elastic body and a rotary shaft inserted through it, the cylindrical elastic body being composed of two or more layers of a woven fabric and elastic member layers, and the woven fabric being composed of thermally contracting woven fabric. CONSTITUTION:An elastic roller 10 comprises a cylindrical elastic body 12 and a rotary shaft 14 inserted through it. The elastic body 12 is composed of a woven fabric layer 16 and an elastic member layer 18, the woven fabric layer 16 being made by heating at 100-200 deg.C and contracting a thermally contracting cylindrical woven fabric to a prescribed inside diameter, a diameter 0.5-5.0% smaller than the outside diameter of the shaft 4. The fiber used for the woven fabric layer 16 has a contracting ratio less than 5% in an axial direction at 100-200 deg.C and that of 5-20% in a radial direction. The elastic member layer is made by covering rubber on the woven fabric and curing the rubber. Since the rotary shaft 14 is inserted into the cylindrical elastic body 12, no slip is caused between the rotary shaft 14 and the elastic body 12.
