PURPOSE:To blow quickly powder for controlling reaction at a necessary timing into a converter according to converter conditions with a titled device which blows said powder together with a carrier gas into the converter through the through-hole of the side wall of the furnace body by incorporating a device for detecting the light in the converter into a blowing nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A probe 62 which is one of the elements constituting the photodetector is inserted into the blowing nozzle 6 which is a part of a blowing device and the light in the converter which is made incident from an observation window 63 via the photoconductor in said probe, a conversion connector 9 and a photoelectric conversion element 10 is photoelectrically converted and is fed to an arithmetic unit 11. The signal for the conditions in the converter after calculation is fed to a device 13 for controlling the blowing device so that the powder for controlling the reaction is blown according to the above-described signal. The probe 62 is exposed to the highly dusty environment of a high temp. during observation in the furnace and is therefore made into, for example, the double pipe construction attached with a chip 64 at the front end thereof. A purging device for cleaning the window 63 attached to the front end of the photoconductor in the gap 65 between the photoconductor and the probe and for cleaning the window 63 having inlet and outlet 66, 67 for the purging gas to cool the photoconductor is provided. |
