PURPOSE:To execute original read action at the prescribed timing irrespective of a variable power ratio by changing a scan start position according to the variable power ratio in a scanner scanning an original at different speed in accordance with the variable power ratio. CONSTITUTION:When a power source is entered, first the variable power ratio is set to 100% (unmagnified ratio). Then a dummy home position P at a 100% variable power ratio is set to a position counter PC showing the actual position of a scan unit 18, which is fitted to the dummy home position at a 100% variable power ratio. Before a scan start request (copy key-on), the scan unit 18 is moved to the dummy home position corresponding to the variable power ratio R, whereby the time necessary for reaching an original tip after the scan start request can be constant irrespective of the variable power ratio. |
