PURPOSE:To uniformize temp. distribution in material to be treated and to anneal it with a good heat efficiency, by radiation heating upper surface and convection heating under surface at heating material to be heated, and simultaneously carrying out convection cooling from upper and lower sides of material to be treated at cooling. CONSTITUTION:A cooling 40 is housed in housing and a circulation fan 36 is operated under closed state of sheltering dampers 38, 39 at heating and soaking. Furnace inside atmospheric gas heated by a radiation tube 25 is introduced in a lower part wind box 24 through an intake box 31, further heated by an auxiliary heating device 43, allowed to flow to jetting nozzles 22 from a lower part header 23 and upwardly jetted at a high speed to heat a coil W. At cooling time, the cooler 40 is inserted into the box 24 and the fan 36 is operated under opened state of the dampers 38, 39. Atmospheric gas in furnace is circulated in an arrow direction by passing both gas flow paths L1, L2 at upper and lower parts, cooled by the cooler 40 at lower part and upwardly jetted from the nozzles 22 at a high speed and cooled by a cooler 44 at upper part and downwardly jetted at a high speed from jetting nozzles 26 through a duct 29.
