PURPOSE:To form a wear resistant sintered layer having no cracks by allowing an alloy powder sheet which is formed of a wear resistant eutectic alloy powder and acrylic self-adhesive binder and having small holes or grooves to tightly contact a part of metallic parts where wear resistance is required and sintering the same in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The sintered layer consisting of a wear resistant metal is formed on the curved part such as cam of a metallic cam shaft for automobiles in order to improve the wear resistance thereof. The alloy powder sheet 2 formed with many small through-holes 4 and grooves to be closed in the stage of sintering is prepd. by mixing 91vol% acrylic resin such as acrylate diluted with toluene with 91vol%, <=150 mesh fine powder of the ternary eutectic alloy such as Fe-P-C, Fe-Mo-C or Fe-B-C having high hardness and excellent wear resistance. Such sheet is allowed to tightly contact the part 6a of the cam 6 where the curvature of curving is large. Said part is then sintered in the non-oxidizing atmosphere to close the holes 4 and the grooves with the partly melted eutectic alloy. The wear resistance sintered layer 2' having no cracks on the surface is thus formed.
