A steering wheel for a motor vehicle has a substantially circular hub 19 and a rim 10 connected by two mutually inclined spokes 12 which divide the rim into two arcuate portions of unequal arc length, the rim having a casing 16 and a metal reinforcement enclosed within the casing of each arcuate portion, the reinforcement 14 in the larger arcuate portion having a greater cross-sectional area than the reinforcement 15 in the smaller arcuate portion. At least one of the reinforcements is extended to reinforce the spokes and the two reinforcements are welded together at the spokes which meet the hub tangentially thereto. The casing may be of rubber, plastics, wood or leather material and need not necessarily cover the reinforcements in the spokes in which case these reinforcements actually form the spokes. |
