PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength and heat resistance, by blending a thermoplastic resin with a cyanoaryl ether polymer in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:10-90wt% thermoplastic resin is blended with 90-10wt% cyanoaryl ether polymer mainly composed of a repeating unit of formula I (wherein Ar is one of groups of formula II). Examples of the thermoplastic resin are polyesters, polycarbonates, polyethers, polystyrene, polysulfones, polyolefins, polyamides, polyimides, and polyvinyl chloride, among which polyesters, polycarbonates and polyethers are particularly preferred.
