PURPOSE:To provide a recording fluid which has an excellent drying rate and an excellent fixing rate, can form an image of good quality and is suitable for use in ink jet recording systems, by mixing a dye with a specified compd. and a liquid medium. CONSTITUTION:4-20mol of ethylene oxide is added to phenol or an alkylphenol having one or two 1-2C alkyl groups to obtain a compd. (B) of the formula (wherein R1, R2 are each H, a 1-2C alkyl; n is 4-20). 0.5-30wt% dye (A) (e.g., C.I. Direct Black 154) is mixed with 0.5-60wt% component B, water (C) and 2-70wt% (based on the amount of the resulting recording fluid) liquid medium (C) composed of a solvent mixture of water and optionally, a water-soluble org. solvent (e.g., glycerol) and optionally, not more than 0.5wt% surfactant, a viscosity modifier, a surface tension modifier, etc. |
