NEW MATERIAL:A peptide selected from the group of compounds expressed by formulas I-VIII (X is lower alkylene; Y is alkylene) and a salt thereof. USE:A medicine having antiulcer action. PREPARATION:For example, a compound expressed by formula I-1 or a salt thereof is reacted with a compound expressed by formula I-2 or a salt thereof to give a compound expressed by formula Ia (R<1>a and R<1>b are amino-protecting group; R<2>a is carboxy-protecting group; R<3>a is imidazole-protecting group). The respective protecting groups are then removed from the compound expressed by formula Ia to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
