PURPOSE:To provide a hair tonic containing cis-6,cis-9,cis-12-octadecatrienoic acid as an active ingredient, exhibiting remarkable hair-growth promoting effect, stably storable for a long period and effective in preventing sebum secretion and dandruff on scalp. CONSTITUTION:The objective hair tonic contains cis-6,cis-9,cis-12-octadecatrienoic acid as an active ingredient. It is used in the form of hair tonic, hair lotion, etc., by using a proper amount of a base such as water, an alcohol (e.g. ethanol), a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycerol), liquid paraffin, etc. The amount of the active ingredient in the hair tonic is usually 0.001-10wt%, preferably 0.01-3wt% based on the whole composition. The active ingredient is a kind of essential fatty acid existing in cell membrane of microorganism of Mortierella genus, etc., or in evening primrose oil, etc., and can be obtained e.g. by extraction. |
