The invention relates to a fore-end for a mortise lock, especially for a high-security lock, which is connected to a mortise lock case via fore-end rails. This fore-end is designed in such a way that it can receive a door-opening monitor in the form of a modular component. Advantageously, this opening monitor can be snapped into the fore-end. Furthermore, the fore-end is made in two parts and, as a result of this two-part design, allows an especially simple premounting of the fore-end rails on the fore-end.
