The invention relates to a device, in particular a stick, for applying a liquid, in particular containing coloured pigments, having a reservoir for the liquid with a closure part which closes the reservoir at the bottom in the position of use, and having an application device which projects outwards from the closure part, a liquid connection between the reservoir and the application device being producible via a spring-loaded valve. To achieve an ergonomic actuation possibility for the valve without negatively influencing the even distribution of the liquid to be applied, provision is made for the valve to be actuable by an actuating element (34, 34') which can be displaced radially relative to the longitudinal axis (74) of the reservoir (12) or of the application device (42).
