The container E is connected to the conduit portion C downstream of the portion A for reintroduction of collected fuel fractions and to a container N, with an overflow R, which is movable vertically to vary the hydrostatic pressure of the fuel re-introduced through the nozzle T. By varying the position of the container N the composition of the fuel in the mixture supplied to the engine can be adjusted. In graphs Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), relationships between the position of the container N and the octane number of the fuel supplied to the engine are given.
