<p>A rectifier arrangement (l4) has a.c. terminals (l5), a terminal (l6) for d.c. return current and two d.c. output terminals (l8, l9). The rectifier elements (Dl-D7) of the rectifier arrangement (l4) are connected so that currents through the output terminals (l8, l9) are discontinuous and that the sum of the output currents is a substantially continuous d.c. output.
