<p>PURPOSE:To lighten a load imposed upon memory management and to efficiently perform preferential transmission of packets, by storing packets in the memories of repeating lines other than those, whose memories contain waiting packets, the numbers of which exceed set values set to each preferential transmission level, when the numbers of packets waiting in the memories of those, repeating lines exceed the set values. CONSTITUTION:Inputted packets are received by an input means 1 and sent to a discriminating means 2. The discriminating means 2 discriminates the preferential transmission levels of the packets by referring to the header information of packet, etc., and sends the discriminated results to a repeating line determining means 3. A discriminating means 12 outputs the state of numbers of packets currently stored in memories to the repeating line determining means 3 in accordance with the numbers of packets stored in the memories 5 and 6 of each repeating line and the set value of a setting means 10. When the packet which is discriminated as one whose preferential transmission level is high by the discriminating means 2 is inputted and a newly set value exceeds the current packet number, the repeating line determining means 3 selects the next repeating line.</p> |
